Summary

This book teaches test managers what they need to know to achieve advanced skills in test estimation, test planning, test monitoring, and test control。 Readers will learn how to define the overall testing goals and strategies for the systems being tested。

This hands-on, exercise-rich book provides experience with planning, scheduling, and tracking these tasks。 You'll be able to describe and organize the necessary activities as well as learn to select, acquire, and assign adequate resources for testing tasks。 You'll learn how to form, organize, and lead testing teams, and master the organizing of communication among the members of the testing teams, and between the testing teams and all the other stakeholders。 Additionally, you'll learn how to justify decisions and provide adequate reporting information where applicable。

With over thirty years of software and systems engineering experience, author Rex Black is President of RBCS, is a leader in software, hardware, and systems testing, and is the most prolific author practicing in the field of software testing today。 He has published a dozen books on testing that have sold tens of thousands of copies worldwide。 He is past president of the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) and a director of the American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB)。

This book will help you prepare for the ISTQB Advanced Test Manager exam。 Included are sample exam questions, at the appropriate level of difficulty, for most of the learning objectives covered by the ISTQB Advanced Level Syllabus。 The ISTQB certification program is the leading software tester certification program in the world。 With about 300,000 certificate holders and a global presence in over 50 countries, you can be confident in the value and international stature that the Advanced Test Manager certificate can offer you。

This second edition has been thoroughly updated to reflect the new ISTQB Advanced Test Manager 2012 Syllabus, and the latest ISTQB Glossary。 This edition reflects Rex Black's unique insights into these changes, as he was one of the main participants in the ISTQB Advanced Level Working Group。

This book covers thoroughly the topics for ISTQB exam。 I liked the way the author expand on the topics with his on the job experience providing scenarios that help to understand the concepts behind it。

Most of the books on this topic are filled with nothing but theory and it's really refreshing to actually find a book that has real life examples。 The fact that Rex Black comes with examples from his own experience and the experience of his own firm puts things into a better perspective。 Now, in case you are wondering about the fact that it might contain the author biases, that's true, it does。 But it's under no circumstances something troublesome nor does it take from the book's final purpose, Most of the books on this topic are filled with nothing but theory and it's really refreshing to actually find a book that has real life examples。 The fact that Rex Black comes with examples from his own experience and the experience of his own firm puts things into a better perspective。 Now, in case you are wondering about the fact that it might contain the author biases, that's true, it does。 But it's under no circumstances something troublesome nor does it take from the book's final purpose, which is to educate the reader in the ISTQB methods regarding test management。 I know that the people who are supposed to read this should already have some testing experience and should already be familiar with many concepts here, but I can't shake the felling that between the exercises in the book and the theory, even more guidelines should be squeezed in order to make this an even more fluent experience for the reader。 Other than that, hats off! 。。。more

I didn't like the book, because it's clearly not usable to prepare for the exam。 It covers the syllabus' topics, but does not concentrate to the material enough。 It's nothing about the tricky questions or the important points of the material I need to know。 It's about the author's stories, experience and advertises of his company。 It's OK, now I see that he is a leading specialist of the area, and he has all the rights to market his company and services, but the book is just unusable to be prepa I didn't like the book, because it's clearly not usable to prepare for the exam。 It covers the syllabus' topics, but does not concentrate to the material enough。 It's nothing about the tricky questions or the important points of the material I need to know。 It's about the author's stories, experience and advertises of his company。 It's OK, now I see that he is a leading specialist of the area, and he has all the rights to market his company and services, but the book is just unusable to be prepared for the exam。For example if there are four methods to improve the testing process, the author details only that one which was written by him, and only mentiones a little the others。 For the exam I would need the details about all of them, all the key points and the differences - not the author's opinion about which was useful to him in his projects。So I appreciate his knowledge, but disappointed, because it's more about him, not about the exam。 。。。more

Very good book, lots of live examples, clear language。 I do not completely agree with author concerning agile and exploratory testing, but in general he provides really good and useful ideas。 This book looks like very useful to prepare for istqb advanced test manager exam, i would recommend it for everyone who prepares for this certification

The book is specifically designed for personal self-study and provides all the necessary information required to pass the Certified Tester Advanced Level exam as defined by the ISTQB。In my opinion, however, it must be used together with the ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level Syllabus。The book is worth buying mainly for the sample exam questions" The book is specifically designed for personal self-study and provides all the necessary information required to pass the Certified Tester Advanced Level exam as defined by the ISTQB。In my opinion, however, it must be used together with the ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level Syllabus。The book is worth buying mainly for the sample exam questions" 。。。more

Great exam prep-book。 And not at all boring (which cannot be said about some other ISTQB CTAL prep-books)。
